With deep humility and gratitude for the many gifts Jackie shared with all of us, especially with our graduates, we will honor her memory and her cherished good work at Caroline Center in two meaningful ways.
On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, Somerset Street will be ceremonially named "Jackie Buedel Way" with the installation and unveiling of an honorary street sign at 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon. Caroline Center also will host a reception with light refreshments at 4 p.m. on October 24, just prior to the unveiling, at 900 Somerset Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21202. All are welcome. We hope you will be able to join us for the unveiling as we honor Jackie’s dedication to the mission and women of Caroline Center.
Additionally, every woman entering the Caroline Center program this coming fall – and every woman who enrolls in Caroline Center for all the years to come – will be fully supported throughout her career and academic journey and as a Caroline Center member for life – through the newly named Jacqueline M. Buedel Academic and Career Advancement Program. As Caroline Center’s first director of academic and career advancement, Jackie’s love of Caroline Center as an SSND-sponsored work and her even greater love of Caroline Center’s courageous and accomplished graduates became the hallmark of what academic and career advancement should be.
Contributions to Caroline Center in Jackie’s memory help support the educational mission of Caroline Center and, in particular, the continued advancement of our graduates so that each woman can claim for herself what every woman so richly deserves – meaningful and rewarding work, opportunities to create a better life, and a voice in the world that is valued.
