Soon there will be a crispness in the air that harbingers the beginning of fall and signals the return to our work-a-day schedules. At Caroline Center, we have just welcomed an outstanding class of eager and ambitious trainees who are already hard at work in pursuit of their professional healthcare certifications. They have dreams of better lives for themselves and their families. We will guide them in setting ambitious and attainable goals for their continued education and new careers.
Caroline Center Class 50 graduate Jamire McElveen-Merrick's story reminds us that life's journey almost never forms a straight line. Its complex paths of discovery and choice, however, oftentimes lead us straight to the place of our passion.
As a 2009 graduate of Poly high school (Baltimore Polytechnic Institute), Jamire was in her element studying the sciences and engineering. Today, with her MSW in hand from Morgan State University, Jamire is ready to launch her new professional career as a social worker.
For Immediate Release – On Friday, March 9, 2018, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., Caroline Center will host a day-long professional workshop for its certified nursing and geriatric nursing assistant candidates on providing compassionate care for patients with dementia.
The workshop, which was created and will be implemented by Caroline Center Nursing Skills Instructor Karen Armacost, MSA, RN and CNA/GNA Program Coordinators Barbara Gough, MSN, RN, and Toni Moore-Duggan, MS, CRNP, will take place at St. Agnes Hospital in the Alagia Auditorium.
In this terrific teaching team, there really are no “firsts.” Even though Pharmacy Technician Program Coordinator Christine Guay arrived at Caroline Center in 2015, followed by her husband, Gordon Guay, in 2017, it was clear that they were quite literally singing from the same hymnal when it came to their love for Caroline Center.
International Women's Day, which will be celebrated on Thursday, March 8, this year, kicks off a year of global advocacy, activism, and education around the social, economic, cultural, and political progress of women. The day, itself, which has a history dating back more than a century, commemorates the nascent years and enduring struggle for women's rights throughout history and around the world.
This year's theme for International Women's Day, #PressForProgress, highlights the challenges women still face in moving society in the direction of gender parity and inclusiveness.
On Saturday, March 3, 2018, Caroline Center, Gibbons Commons CNA/GNA Program Coordinator Ms. Toni Moore-Duggan, MS, CRNP, was the honored recipient of the 2018 Doris Johnson Award presented by the Archdiocese of Baltimore at its Social Ministry Convocation held at Mercy High School.
